5 Tips for First Time Uber Passengers

I’ve got your Uber promo code for your first ride free! But first, let me go over a few tips for first time riders to make you feel more comfortable and prepared for your first trip.

A quick overview of how the Uber app works… once you request a ride the closest driver to your pick up location is pinged. The driver has 15 seconds to accept your ping, once a driver has accepted your request you’re shown a picture of the driver and what type of car they will be picking you up in.

You can see exactly where your driver currently is and even watch them on the map as they drive to come pick you up. When your driver arrives at your location the app will notify you.

Once you’re in your Uber taxi  after you used your Uber Promo Code the driver will start the trip, heading towards the destination you had entered.

The app tracks the mileage and time automatically. Once you arrive at your destination the driver will end the drip and the fare is automatically deducted using the payment method you selected.

Now for those Uber rider tips…

5 Tips for Uber Riders

#1 Enter your Destination

Destination

You may think it’s easier just to tell the driver how to get to your destination instead of having the gps guide them, but to the driver it’s very inconvenient for many reasons. An Uber driver can see many things on google maps that they find very useful throughout the duration of your trip…

  • Estimated time of arrival
  • Estimated total trip miles
  • Highlighted route on the map
  • Detailed Instructions – Turn by Turn
  • Traffic Conditions
  • Automatic Rerouting
  • Etc…

Google maps also helps your driver see where they will end up at exactly what time. This helps them prepare their day since they plan it according to where the passengers destination is each trip.

#2 Leaving a 5 Star Review

Uber Review

Uber is very strict with their driver ratings, if you drop below a 4.7 they put the driver on probation. Not all drivers do this as a part time gig, some depend on it as their main income and full time job. So if your ride went fine with no issues, please give your driver a 5 star review.

Good drivers do try hard to earn that… some have on hand a cell phone charger, a piece of gum, or even some water for your convenience. Please know that your Uber driver does not know if your uber promo code it active or not.

#3 Tip your Uber Driver

Tip your Uber Driver

Many riders think that the tip is included in the total fare cost, it’s not. Uber drivers get a “safe rider” fee deducted from each fare & then Uber takes 20% of the total cost of each fare as well. Depending on your location, only about 10%-20% of Uber riders tip their driver.

Uber cost about 1/3 of the cost of a Taxi, and provides the same service in a much nicer vehicle with a more personable experience. You tip your Taxi driver don’t you? Depending on the day… the tips the driver receives may be the only profit they make.

#4 Don’t Ask your Driver to Wait more Than 5 Minutes

5 minute wait

Uber drivers get paid per mile, not per minute. Well yes, Uber pays them $.13 per minute but do the math…. if you ask them to wait 10 minutes, then they only get $1.30. From there point of view… in those 10 minutes they could of received a ping for another ride to earn more money, while you requested another driver when you finished your errand. Win Win! Have a 5 minute rule… and stick to it, don’t make a driver wait more than 5 minutes.

#5 Minimum Fare Rides

Minimum Fare

A minimum fare ride is around $4.70, again depending on your location. That means if a driver picks you up and takes you half a mile down the road… you will be charged $4.70.

Keep in mind after Uber deducts their fees your rider only gets $2.40. So if you requested the rider to pick you up and they drove 5+ miles to get you and your trip is a minimum fare, throw in a few extra bucks to make it profitable for them.

Most drivers only get 1 trip per hour on average… so if you’re there only trip for that hour then they only got paid $2.40. After they deduct gas as well as wear and tear… they end up in the negative.

Hopefully these tips better prepare you for your first Uber ride! Ready for your Uber promo code for your first free Uber ride? Use the code below to get your first ride free, Uber On!
